Batty For Chatty! Pt. 2

CHATTY 6993

After stuffing ourselves at lunch, Missy and I decided to walk some of it off, exploring Chattanooga's DOWNTOWN area. We saw even more PUBLIC ART and ran across a children's science center, the CREATIVE DISCOVERY MUSEUM, it's beacon looking like a po-mo lighthouse...

After getting all hot and sweaty again walking around the downtown area, we circled back to the visitors' center and the parking garage...we marveled at Chattanooga's FREE SHUTTLE SYSTEM which uses colorful ELECTRIC BUSES to transport people in continuous loops to different parts of the city...and then kicked ourselves for not taking advantage of it (next time, next time). We got into the car and headed across the river to check out more of the city...

There was tons more to see on the other side of the TENNESSEE RIVER, including of course...more PUBLIC ART. The sidewalks had DANCE STEPS imbedded in them, encouraging hapless tourists to block and piss off townie pedestrians who just want to "get to where they're going"...Missy stopped and did the HOKEY POKEY...

We stopped in the awesomely cool LEO HANDMADE GALLERY to do some more shopping and to see if it was a place that would be interested in carrying some of Missy's "stuff"...turns out they already did! To our surprise, we found that they had some of Missy's ZINES as part of their inventory...

A couple doors down from Leo we stopped at CLUMPIES' ICE CREAM COMPANY for a sweet cool off. It seemed to work - Missy went from HOT to MILD!

We hit the streets again, passing the impressive PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE that spans the river, eventually an alleyway entrance to COOLIDGE PARK, where we frolicked in the FOUNTAIN and then on the giant enclosed CAROUSEL...

After a long day of exploring, we finally decided that it was time to head back home. We had our fill of fun and we were happy in the knowledge that there was so much more to see the next time we visit Chattanooga. On the way out of the city we stopped at the JULIE DARLING DONUT SHOP...their banners announcing their DONUT SUNDAES and TROPICAL DONUT MONTH piqued our curiosity and we ended up getting half-a-dozen doughnuts for the road...

Halfway on our return trip, we made one final stop in Atlanta at the DEKALB FARMERS MARKET to stock up on some groceries. We even saw a RAINBOW, which was the cherry on top of a perfect little day trip...we half-joked that at the end of the rainbow was home...

This post makes me SO HAPPY. I LOVE that park in Chattanooga and you know I am obsessed with that carousel, haha. I have never been to the doughnut place though - it's going on the list! And hey, next time you go to YDFM you totally have to text/call/smoke signal me because I live a mile away! ;) Come meet my kitties!

Marla, PM Missy with your phone #...I'm not sure if she has it or not. On the way home from Chattanooga, we just stopped in at YDFM real quick to pick up a few things...we were dead tired! But yeah, next time we're up on Ponce we should definitely give you a ring!
